Command Staff

The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office Command Staff consists of Sheriff Scott Chitwood as the agency head. The second in command is Major of Operations J. A. Gibson. The remainder of the agency is broken down into three operational Divisions.

The Uniform Division is under the direction of Captain Charles Bunch. This Division is responsible for the operation of patrol squads, communications and the Special Operations Unit. The Uniform Division is the working "backbone" of the agency spanning all 24 hours in the day.

The Criminal Investigations Division and the Detention Division are headed up by Captain Ricky Swiney. This Division handles the investigation aspect of the agency into cases ranging from simple thefts to homicides.

The Court Services operates with Captain Charles Bunch as the Division Commander. This Division is charged with the operation of security within the court system in Whitfield County and with the serving of official court papers.
