Sgt. Darlene Gibson and Daren

Sgt. Darlene Gibson was born in Whitfield County, Georgia on December 19, 1961, and still resides in Whitfield County.  She spends most of her spare time with her two wonderful daughters Tifani and Ambur. They attend Fellowship Baptist Church.

Sgt. Gibson began her law enforcement career in February of 1983 at the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office.  She started teaching D.A.R.E. in 1996 in several of the area elementary schools.  One of the schools is the same elementary school that she and her daughters attended.  Sgt. Gibson feels honored to work with some of the people that helped make her and her children productive members of this community.  That is one of the goals of the D.A.R.E. program, as well as a personal goal of Sgt. Gibson's – "to teach the children to be responsible adults, accountable for their decisions."  Sgt. Gibson is a member of the G.D.O.A., N.D.O.A., Georgia Crime Prevention Association, and the Dalton/Whitfield Safe Kids Coalition. In 1997 she was selected as officer of the year by her fellow officers for her dedication to the children of our community.  Sgt. Gibson was elected 1st Vice President of the Georgia DARE Officers Association (G.D.O.A.) in 2000. She will take the helm as President of the G.D.O.A. in 2002.
