Sgt. David King

 

    Sgt. King has been with the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office since August of 1987. During his first year of employment with the sheriff's office, Sgt. King worked on third shift patrol. In December of 1988 he became a D.A.R.E. instructor. Sgt. King has taught D.A.R.E. in the Whitfield County School System since 1988, longer than any other officer in the state of Georgia.  Sgt. King graduated from Dalton State College in 1991 with an AA in Liberal Arts and from Covenate College in 1998 with a BS in Management. Sgt. King is also commander of the hostage negotiation team for the department and an adjunct instructor in Hostage Negotiations at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He also works as an adjunct professor in Hostage Negotiations at Jacksonville State University in Alabama. Three other D.A.R.E. instructors teach D.A.R.E. as well: Sgt. Darlene Gibson, Officer Judy Lewis and Officer Tammy Silvers.
